WORCESTER – Our Lady of Guadalupe was celebrated all day on her feast day, Dec. 12. According to Father Hugo Cano, director of the Hispanic/Latino Ministry, the day began with Misa de las Mañanitas at 5 a.m. In the evening, people gathered at St. Stephen Church to pray the rosary and parents consecrated their children to Our Lady of Guadalupe in a ceremony led by Sister Andrea Avellaneda Trujillo, RODA, from St. Joan of Arc Parish. St. Stephen’s choir sang a traditional hymn called “Himno Guadalupano,” while actors protrayed the apparition of Our Lady to Juan Diego. Playing the part of Juan Diego was Jonphi Santana; Nathalia Contreras was Our Lady and the angels were Mary and David Monroy. Mass followed and a Mexican celebration with food and music completed the day. Amory Navarro Photography
