In October, the Month of the Rosary, parishes focused on the Blessed Mother and the rosary in various ways. At St. Denis Parish Parish in Douglas Bishop McManus blessed the outdoor Marian grotto Oct. 8, the day before the parish’s patron’s feast, said Father Miguel A. Pagan, pastor. Connor Stickney added an altar to the existing grotto, and Luke Lightbown added benches, for their Eagle Scout projects. They are in Troop 316. The project was started when Father Nelson J. Rivera was pastor. At St. Anne Parish in Shrewsbury, Father Walter J. Riley, pastor, blessed a new outdoor rosary garden Oct. 7. Parishioner Jeff Frost had spearheaded the project in design and fundraising, with parishioners covering the cost. Jim Pignataro and Paul Prunier, who work at the parish, helped with the design and landscaping. This fall Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish at Our Lady of Loreto Church in Worcester held its traditional Miraculous Medal Novena with adoration, praying of the rosary, and guest homilists. The Tuesday novena ends with the 7 p.m. service Oct. 31, when medals are to be available. Photos: Cindy Murphy and Cheryl Mauro, Jeff Frost, and Tanya Connor
