WORCESTER - Bishop McManus spoke out against “death-dealing” bills in the Massachusetts Legislature Monday night at a novena where prayers are said for the sick and dying.

Alumni of St. Stephen School in Worcester and members of St. Stephen’s parish council have planned an event to remember the recently closed school and to raise money to repair the church’s bell tower.

New students were welcomed to the new diocesan high school on the first day of orientation Tuesday. Classes are to start Sept. 14.
