Worcester’s first “Feminine Genius Brunch” with the Sisters of Life will be on April 12. It is sponsored by the diocesan Respect Life Office, the Maronite Eparchy of St. Maron of Brooklyn and Cedar of Lebanon FertilityCare Center.
In 1995, Pope John Paul II wrote a Letter to Women, which emphasized the important role of women in society and in the Church. The pope spoke of the distinct attributes of women – receptivity, sensitivity, generosity, and maternity– all of which make up the “feminine genius.” The Sisters of Life are a contemplative/active Roman Catholic community of women religious, who profess the three traditional vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, and a fourth vow to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life. They were founded by Cardinal John O’Connor in New York in 1991 and currently serve in the [arch]dioceses of New York, Albany, Bridgeport, Philadelphia, Denver, Phoenix, Washington, D.C., and Toronto, Canada.
It is a special and unique opportunity to have the privilege of hosting the Sisters of Life for this morning of reflection, brunch, and fellowship which strives to renew our souls and re-discover the mystery of God and his plan.
The event will be at Our Lady of Mercy Maronite Catholic Church, 341 June St., Worcester from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.. Registration deadline has been extended to April 8. Cost is $30 to attend.
