The mothers of two diocesan priests have died. An April 1 letter from Bishop McManus asks for prayers for Bertha M. Fleming of Worcester, mother of Father Thomas B. Fleming, and Ann Hartford, mother of Father Kevin F. Hartford.

Ann Harford, 75, mother of Father Kevin F. Hartford
Ann Marie (O'Donnell) Hartford of Middleboro, 75, passed away March 30. She was born July 18, 1939 in Jamaica Plain, to Margaret (Kearney) O'Donnell and Bernard O'Donnell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Hartford; her sister, Teresa O'Donnell, and brothers, William O'Donnell and Michael O'Donnell. She is survived by her children, Pamela Hartford, Margaret Moran, and Father Kevin F. Hartford and brothers, John (Joanne) O'Donnell and Brother Edward O'Donnell. Ann leaves behind her many nieces and nephews and friends in Illinois, the Oak Point Community and the Sacred Heart Parish. Ann was proud to be a secretary for many years and a longtime, competitive bowler. Most recently, she loved being able to attend family functions, hanging out at the pool, playing cards, and volunteering at the Food Pantry with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Sacred Heart Parish. She had a generous heart and was a friend to many. Visitation will be held at the Egger & Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro, Tuesday, April 7, 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, April 8, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 340 Centre St, Middleboro. Bertha M. Fleming, 87, mother of Father Thomas B. Fleming
WORCESTER - Bertha May (LeBritton) Fleming, 87, of Worcester, died April 1 at Christopher House in Worcester after an illness. Her husband of 59 years, William T. Fleming, died in 2002. She leaves three sons, William J. Fleming of Auburn, Father Thomas B. Fleming of Worcester and James R. Fleming of Pascoag, R.I.; six daughters, Patricia Grace White of Charlotte, N.C., Deborah M. Ulitsky of Jefferson, Maureen F. Clark, Sandra A. Brennan, Joan C. White, all of Worcester, and Annette L. Fleming of Templeton; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, and several nephews and nieces. Her siblings Louis LeBritton, E. Marjorie Daviau, Annette Cheney, Christina Hebert, and Joseph LeBritton, predeceased her. Bertha was born in Worcester the daughter of Bertha M. (Guertin) and Joseph A. LeBritton and lived in Worcester all her life. She attended St. Peter's High School. She was a parachute inspector for the David Clark Company and later worked part-time for New England Telephone Company as a Repair Department Clerk. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish. Calling hours are Monday, April 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 7, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester. Her son, Father Thomas Fleming, will be the principal celebrant. (Family friends are asked to go directly to church.) Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, Worcester.
