June 26, 2014The annual Partners in Charity Appeal is getting closer and closer to its $5 million goal as the end of the drive approaches.
The Appeal so far has received gifts and pledges totaling $4,611,086, or 92 percent of the goal, leaving $388,914 left to raise, according to Michael P. Gillespie, diocesan director of Stewardship and Development. He said he hopes the goal can be reached by next month.
At this time last year the Appeal had raised $4,527,291, or $83,795 less than this year.
So far there have been about 17,000 donors. Another 3,000 who gave last year have yet to make gifts or pledges this year, he said.
‘If this group made gifts equivalent to their gifts last year, it would bring in about $750,000 and put the drive over the top,” Mr. Gillespie said.
There have been 981 new donors this year who have given a total of $123,114, he said. Gifts from 136 diocesan priests have totaled $201,575. The 112 members of the St. Paul Society, who pledge at least $5,000 have given a total of $802,473. Thirty-nine of the 102 parishes in the diocese have reached or exceeded their goals.
