After almost two weeks of in-pew collections, the annual Partners in Charity Appeal has raised $1,470,877, or 29 percent of the $5 million goal, according to Michael P. Gillespie, director of the diocesan Office of Stewardship and Development. Two parishes already have exceeded their goals. They are Christ the King in Worcester and St. Augustine in Millville, Mr. Gillespie said. Christ the King, with a goal of $116,500, has raised $123,615 in gifts and pledges. St. Augustine, with a goal of $19,222, has raised $22,392 in gifts and pledges. On-line giving has picked up considerably so far, he said. Donations from on-line giving already have quadrupled over previous years. People may give on line by visiting www.Partners-Charity.net. “It’s easy to use,” he said. “Also, gifts have been coming in from people we haven’t heard from in years.” Some parishes are still doing in-pew collections but most have completed that phase of the drive, he said. The annual Partners in Charity Appeal helps to support charitable, educational and ministerial organizations in the diocese.
