Our Lady of Perpetual Help

WORCESTER – Bishop McManus blessed an icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, patroness of Haiti, at the Haitian Mass at Holy Family Parish on June 20. The icon was then displayed in the parish’s church, St. Joseph. Haitians’ devotion to this image stems from miraculous cures of smallpox in the 1800s, when a priest blessed Port-au- Prince with the icon and people made a novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, according to Father Jean Robert Simbert Brice, who is Haitian and celebrates Mass for the Haitian community.
