The annual Novena to St. Anne at St. Anne’s Shrine and St. Anne and St. Patrick Parish in Sturbridge is one way that people there are participating in the parish phase of the National Eucharistic Revival.
“My flesh for the life of the world” (Jn 6:51) is the theme for the 136th annual novena in honor of SS. Joachim and Anne, Mary’s parents and Jesus’ grandparents. Their feast day, July 26, is an occasion to recognize today’s grandparents.
The novena, which all are welcome to attend, is being held July 18-26, at the shrine on the parish site, 16 Church St., in the Fiskdake section of Sturbridge. The nightly schedule is: confessions at 5:30 p.m. in St. Anne Church sacristy, the rosary procession from the Generations statue (in front of the gift shop) at 6:30 p.m. and the novena Mass in the outdoor pavilion at 7 p.m. On July 26 there is also a Mass – with anointing of the sick – at 11 a.m. in the pavilion.
