Six former competitors and a coach have been named to the College of the Holy Cross Athletic Hall of Fame the Holy Cross Varsity Club has announced.
They will be formally inducted at the Varsity Club’s annual dinner May 4 in the Hogan Campus Center.
They are Charles R. Doyle, Class of 1986, football; Patrick J. Kelly, Class of 1987, lacrosse; Glenn Williams, Class of 1989, basketball; Ariadys V. Confesor, Class of 2004, football; Stacey N. Hochkins, Class of 2012, ice hockey; Megan K. Lynch, Class of 2012, volleyball, and Barry Parenteau, honorary, swimming coach.
Mr. Doyle, now managing director of Business Capital, played fullback from 1982 to 1985. He scored 23 touchdowns, rushed for 1,620 yards and was blocking back for Gil “The Thrill” Fenerty, all-time leading leading rusher with 3,680 yards.
Mr. Kelly, now managing director of global sales at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., was a two-time USILA Colonial League All Star, all New England his senior year, and played in the New England East-West All Star game. He is the Crusader career leader in assists and points.
Mr. Williams, now president and owner of Steve Angeline Sales, was star point guard for the Crusaders from 1985 to 1989. He totaled 714 assists, a Holy Cross record, and scored 638 points. He earned All Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference honors as a senior.
Mr. Confesor, now wide receiver coach and pass-game coordinator for his alma mater, was a two-time All America pick and first team All New England his junior and senior years. He holds single-season records with 2,352 receiving yards, 2,267 kick-return yards and 5,370 all-purpose yards.
Ms. Hochkins, now an executive mortgage banker for Quicken Loans, was a four-time first team All-ECAC East selection and made All America and All New England three times. She is the Holy Cross all-time leader in goals (103), assists (86) and points (189).
Ms. Lynch, now a senior account executive at USI Insurance Services, was a three-time All-Patriot League selection and was named to the Patriot League 25th Anniversary team. She was the only player in Holy Cross history to break the 1,000 mark in kills (1,486) and digs (1,108).
Coach Parenteau, who retired last spring, led the Holy Cross women’s swimming and diving team from 1976 to 2918, and the men’s team from 1996 until 2018. As women’s coach he was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year three times. His men’s and women’s teams won a combined 241 victories. He coached eight swimmers and divers who have been inducted into the H.C. Hall of Fame, including Callie Taffe, Class of 1981, an All American.
