Father Chris Alar, a member of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, will be a featured speaker at the 22nd Annual Worcester Diocesan Catholic Men’s Conference, scheduled for Saturday, March 25, at the Plourde Center at Assumption University. The title of his keynote is “Being a Eucharistic Man.”
Father Alar entered the Marian Fathers, the religious community entrusted with spreading the message and devotion of Divine Mercy, in July 2006. Prior to that, he received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan. After working as an engineering manager at a large automotive supplier in Detroit, he began his own consulting firm in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2000.
After deciding to become a priest, he attended Franciscan University of Steubenville, in Ohio, for his philosophy studies and the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., for his theology studies. Later, he earned a master’s of divinity degree from Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, Connecticut.
He has written and produced the popular “Divine Mercy 101” and “Explaining the Faith” DVD series and is the author of the bestselling book After Suicide: There’s Hope for Them and for You. He has also written Understanding Divine Mercy. He is host of the EWTN show Living Divine Mercy. He serves as the director of the Association of Marian Helpers and is the head of Marian Press, located on the grounds of the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge.

Diocesan and religious priests will hear confessions at midday. Bishop McManus will be the principal celebrant and homilist for the conference Mass at 4 p.m.
