Bishop McManus sent a letter today to parents of the two Worcester central Catholic high schools that are being merged, Holy Name and St. Peter-Marian junior/senior high schools.
In it he expresses his confidence in the leadership of the Catholic Schools Board and the Catholic Schools Office that are making the decisions regarding the merger.
"They are doing everything possible to make this an outstanding school from the first day it opens its doors. I approved the recommendations which have been announced up to now …,” Bishop McManus wrote.
Key administrative positions were announced on Friday and a decision on the site of the merged school is expected in a matter of weeks.
He also acknowledges that the change "is clearly difficult and painful" for some families.
“Now is the time for cooperation and assistance to make this new school a reality,” he said.
“Join me in putting this process into God’s hands in prayer, asking that the Holy Spirit continue to guide us with the gifts of wisdom and right judgment so that the rich tradition of Catholic secondary education will not just survive but flourish in the years to come,” he wrote.
