“The Eucharist: The Source and Summit of Our Faith” is the theme of the upcoming Worcester Catholic Women’s Conference. With this year’s speakers and a variety of exhibitors, the organizers of the conference expect it to be sold out. The conference will take place Nov. 23 in the Tsotsis Family Academic Center at Assumption College, 500 Salisbury St., Worcester.
The highlights of the event include four national Catholic speakers, time for confession, celebration of the Eucharist, and opportunities to join in fellowship and make new friends. There will be several priests available to hear confessions, and Bishop McManus will conclude the event with the celebration of Mass in the college’s Chapel of the Holy Spirit at 4 p.m. Also, there will be an opportunity to view a presentation on several approved eucharistic miracles.
The conference begins with registration at 7:30 a.m., followed by Benediction and a music program. Confessions will be available during the lunch break held at noon. Lunch is included in the ticket price.
Featured speakers begin at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day. The speakers include:
• Kathleen Beckman, president and co-founder of the Foundation of Prayer for Priests. She sits on the advisory board of Magnificat, A Ministry to Catholic Women, and the Pope Leo XIII Institute. The title of her talk is, “Building a Eucharistic Heart and Home.”
• Michelle Schmidt, who was active as a speaker for the Silent No More Awareness Campaign and worked with 40 Days for Life, will be presenting her talk, “Divine Life: The Profound Connection Between the Eucharist and Abortion.”
• Mother Miriam of the Lamb of God, O.S.B., who converted from Judaism and founded Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope, will speak about, “The Holy Eucharist: the Passover Fulfilled.”
• Tim Francis, an evangelist and revert to the Catholic faith, who speaks about eucharistic miracles, will be wrapping up the speaker’s program with his talk, “Signs From God: Miracles and Their Meaning.”
In an invitation to attend, Bishop McManus says, “The conference will offer you a privileged opportunity to learn more about your Catholic faith and the teachings of our beloved Church in the company of other Catholic women who in many ways and in different life-circumstances try to put their faith into action.”
