Francesco Cesareo, the president of Assumption College, will speak at the 19th Annual Worcester Diocesan Catholic Men’s Conference, scheduled for April 6 at the college. The title of his talk is “A Wounded Church.”
He will speak in his capacity as the chairman of the National Review Board for the Protection of Children and Young People.
Cesareo is an educator and historian. In 2007 he became the president of Assumption College. He was raised in Queens, New York, and graduated from Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception in Douglaston. He earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in late medieval/early modern European history from Fordham University.
As a Fulbright Scholar he studied at the University of Rome and the Pontifical Gregorian University. He has been the chairman of the National Review Board for the Protection of Children and Young People since 2013.
He will address the current challenges to the Church coming from the abuse of minors. His talk will focus on his role with the National Review Board as it applies nationwide. That Board sets policies that impact all dioceses in the United States.
“Following last week’s unique three-day summit meeting in Rome, when Pope Francis met with bishops and leaders from throughout the world, this talk will be extraordinarily timely,” said Msgr. Thomas J. Sullivan, co-chair of the event. “The men on our committee are very much aware that the subject of the protection of minors and other adults is on everyone’s mind. We are very glad that Dr. Cesareo has accepted our invitation to address this important matter from his special vantage point as chairman of the National Review Board.”
Through March 25 ticket prices for adult men are $45. On March 26 they increase to $60. Tickets for students are always $30. Tickets can be purchased online on the conference website at
