The annual Partners in Charity Appeal has passed the $4 million mark, leaving slightly less that $1 million to go to reach the $5 million goal. As of Wednesday, the Appeal had received $4,094,049 in gifts and pledges, 82 percent of the goal, according to Michael P. Gillespie, director of the diocesan Office of Stewardship and Development. That means $905,951 is needed to get to $5 million. Mr. Gillespie said the drive has received $179,882 more at this point in the drive than it did by the third week in May last year. So far, 23 parishes have reached or surpassed their goals. Last year, 17 parishes had reached their goals by this time, he said. Members of the St. Paul Society, who pledge at least $5,000 to the Appeal, have raised $658,850 so far. The average gift for the 89 members is $7,402.
