Michael David Hoye is to be ordained to the transitional diaconate by Bishop McManus at a 10 a.m. Mass Aug. 7 at St. Mary Parish in Uxbridge, where he has been serving as a seminarian. A public reception follows in the church hall.
He is to assist at Mass as a deacon at 11 a.m. Aug. 8 at St. Mary’s in Uxbridge.
Mr. Hoye is the youngest of seven children of David M. and Joan (Lees) Hoye. He was born on Nov. 18, 1993, in Worcester. His home parish is St. Mark in Sutton.
He attended Assumption Elementary School in Millbury, Holy Name Central Catholic Junior/Senior High School in Worcester and Assumption University, where he studied philosophy and theology, receiving his bachelor’s degree in 2016.
He went to Theological College at The Catholic University of America, then on to Rome to the Pontifical North American College and the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, where he got his bachelor’s degree in sacred theology. This fall he is to return there to begin a two-year program for his licentiate in sacred theology.
His assignments as a seminarian were at St. Edmund of Canterbury Parish, Loughton, England; St. Brigid and Our Lady of the Assumption parishes, Millbury; Annunciation Parish, Gardner; and St. Mary’s, Uxbridge.
An ordination liturgy for the Diocese of Worcester is scheduled at St. Mary Church in Uxbridge. It is open to the public. The ordination can be viewed live and later on St. Mary’s Facebook page,
