Tim Francis, an evangelist and creator of the mission, You Shall Believe, will speak at the upcoming
Worcester Catholic Women’s Conference Nov. 23. The title of his talk is, “Signs From God: Miracles and Their Meaning.”
Mr. Francis was one of six children who grew up as a practicing Catholic, never missing Mass on Sunday. During his college years, he left the Church behind and turned to the party life. He soon became acquainted with drugs and alcohol and by the time he left college he was addicted to cocaine. Throughout this tumultuous time, his mother, a devout Catholic, prayed for his conversion constantly. In 1999 she sent him a tape she recorded called, “Signs from God: Science Tests Faith.” At the time he brushed it aside, but 10 years later, in 2009, he discovered the meaning of the miracles showcased in that documentary and reverted to the Catholic faith. A current-day St. Monica and St. Augustine story, he credits his mother for his conversion.
Today, Mr. Francis conducts parish missions in which he discusses the science behind the eucharistic miracles around the world.
The day after the Women’s Conference he will be speaking at 5:30 p.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 266 Main St., Northborough. His talk, which is part of the parish’s confirmation preparation, is open for all to attend.
Mr. Francis has conducted more than 400 parish missions and people are captivated by his talks. One attendee from a parish mission said to him, “I wanted to thank you for changing my life … my mom got me to attend … I was an occasional Mass attendee, mostly holidays. After your talk I made a good confession and now attend Mass daily.”
His goal, which can also be viewed on his website, www.youshallbelieve.com, is to evangelize Catholics and non-Catholics alike. He wishes to bring the faith back to former and non-practicing Catholics and get the youth arduous about their Catholic faith. He has a deep devotion to the Eucharist and will be talking about the eucharistic miracles at the Women’s Conference.
The 2019 Worcester Catholic Women’s Conference, which will take place Nov. 23 on the campus of Assumption College in the Tsotsis Family Academic Center, is sold out. The day begins with registration at 7:30 a.m. and concludes with Mass celebrated by Bishop McManus.
Other speakers at the conference include Mother Miriam of the Lamb of God, Kathleen Beckman, and Michelle Schmidt.
