SOUTHBRIDGE – Deacon Teodoro Camacho, 65, a longtime resident, died at home Monday, Nov. 4, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his wife of 31 years, Rita (Hernandez) Camacho. They were married Sept. 17, 1988. He leaves two sons, Reynaldo Camacho of Waltham, Edgardo Camacho of Southbridge, and two daughters, Kiara Camacho-Martinez and her husband Victor of Worcester, and Clarissa Camacho of Southbridge, and three grandchildren, Frankie, Antonio and Aaliyah Camacho, and his mother Carmen Lopez of Waltham. He also is survived by three brothers, Miguel Rivera and his wife Evelyn of Southbridge, Raul Melendez of Waltham, Jose Camacho and his wife Marilyn of Chicago, and four sisters, Carmen Giron and her husband Byron of Waltham, Gladys Melendez of Waltham, Kathy Camacho-Martinez and her husband Alberto of Chicago, and Milagros Camacho of Chicago, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William Camacho.
He was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, Jan, 18, 1954, son of the late Teodoro Camacho, who died July 27, 2018.
He was a member of St. John Paul II Parish, where he was a permanent deacon of the parish. He was ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Boston on Oct. 1, 1995, with his first assignment at St. Mary Parish in Waltham. He came to St. Mary Parish in Southbridge in 2001.
Deacon Camacho was the founder and spiritual director of the Charismatic Group of Padre Pio of the Diocese of Worcester, and Pope John XXIII retreat group. He also enjoyed the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, and the Philadelphia 76’s, but most of all he loved his family and church.
He was retired from the Mira Corporation in Oxford, where he worked for 30 years.
The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 9, with the Mass at 10 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, 446 Main St. Burial will follow at St. Hedwig Cemetery, North Woodstock Road. Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 8, from 5-8 p.m. at Notre Dame Church, followed by a vigil service at 8 p.m.
