A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 for Deacon Paul J. Dacri, 65, who died Wednesday at UMass Medical Center after a short illness. The Mass will be held in St. John's Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester, were he has served as deacon since 2012.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1953, in Worcester, son of Michael J. and Ruth Helen (Brouillette) Dacri. He attended St. Stephen School from first through 11 grade and graduated from Holy Name Central Catholic School. He also attended Worcester State University.
He retired from the Worcester Regional Transit Authority, was an EMT and director of communications for Central Massachusetts Emergency Medical Services Corp. He was a sergeant in the Army National Guard.
He was ordained a deacon on June 11, 2011 by Bishop McManus in St. Paul Cathedral.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Patricia (Fallstrom) Dacri. He is survived by his son, Timothy P. Dacri; three daughters, Jennifer A. Martell and her husband Russell, Joanne M. Dacri and Jill M. Vazquez and her husband Sam all of Worcester; two brothers, Steven M. Dacri of Worcester and Michael J. Dacri, Jr. and his wife Lauren of East Brookfield; two sisters, Jeanine M. Dacri and her wife Lucia Camara of New Braintree and Christine M. Bolivar and her husband Steven of Shrewsbury; eight grandchildren, Katarina Dacri, Isabella and Vincent Martell, Gianna Vazquez, Lucas Dacri, Gabriella Martell, Sadie Dacri and Sophia Vazquez; many nieces and nephews.
He served as deacon from June 11, 2011 through Oct. 29, 2012, at St. Mark Parish in Sutton and at St. Anne Chapel, in the Manchaug section of Sutton from Aug. 6, 2012 through Oct. 29, 2012. He then served at St. John Parish, Worcester from Oct. 29, 2012 until his death.
A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, Nov. 9, from 4-8 p.m. in St. John's Church with a vigil service to be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.
