Thomas Wickstrom, chairman of the consultative board of Our Lady of the Valley Elementary School in Uxbridge, announces a $1 million matching gift for the planned Grace Rett Athletic Complex and Education Center at the school. The announcement was made Aug. 28 at the annual Parents Guild fund-raising golf tournament at Blissful Meadows Golf Club in Uxbridge. Father Nicholas Desimone, pastor of St. Mary Parish in Uxbridge, and Edward Reynolds, principal, were in attendance.
The G.R.A.C.E. Center is named for Grace Mason Rett, OLV Class of 2014, who died Jan. 15, 2020 in a motor vehicle accident in Florida when on a training trip with the women’s rowing team of the College of the Holy Cross.
The school added a new, top level of sponsorship for the tournament this year, the Grace Sponsor. The Rett and Mason families were the Grace sponsor, it was announced. The tournament raised money for the new center. Groundbreaking for the center - which is to include a gym, middle school classrooms and outdoor reflection spaces - is planned for early next year. So far $2.2 million of the estimated $3 million cost has been raised. For more information or to donate, see the website www.ourladyofthevalleyregional.com.
