WORCESTER - Brother Armand G. Lemaire, A.A., 93, died peacefully on Feb. 28 at Notre Dame Long Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Fall River, he was educated in local schools. He professed his first vows of religion on Sept. 8, 1944. He completed his undergraduate studies at Assumption College in 1977.
Brother Armand was the son of Arthur Lemaire and Lucie (Thibeault) Lemaire. Besides the members of his religious community, he is survived by a brother, Gilbert of Fall River. He is predeceased by a sister, Corrinne Demers.
Brother Armand touched the lives of countless numbers of students and staff in his life and work at Assumption College. For many years, Brother Armand worked in the treasurer’s office and served in a similar capacity in his local religious community. In later years, he was a Special Assistant to the Director of Alumni Relations at Assumption and an Alumni Ambassador. In 2006, Brother was honored to receive the President’s Medal, conferred by President Thomas Plough, and in 2008 he was inducted into Assumption’s Athletic Hall of Fame for special contributions to the department.
In addition to his professional expertise as an accountant, Brother Armand had a love for the liturgical life of the Church and regularly assisted in the preparations for liturgical celebrations.
The funeral will be held Monday, March 5, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Assumption College, 500 Salisbury St. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Fiskdale in the Assumptionist section. Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 4, from 4-6 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Assumption College. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Assumptionist Retirement Fund, 330 Market St., Brighton, MA 02135. Arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
