St. Mary's Schools, Worcester, held its first blessing of animals Wednesday in order to mark the feast of St. Francis. The day began with Mass celebrated by Father James Hoey, chaplain of the schools. Father Hoey told the story of St. Francis taming the wolf. He then challenged the students and faculty to tame their own inner-wolf in order to be able to follow Jesus. The day concluded with the blessing of animals. Scripture about the day of creation was proclaimed followed by a general blessing of the animals. Then each animal was called by name and blessed individually.
